How Long Does Ceramic Coating Last?

Short answer: years, not weeks. How many years depends on the coating, the prep and how the car is washed.

Years, Not Weeks

Wax lasts weeks. Spray sealants last a few months. A professionally installed ceramic coating is a hard layer bonded to your clear coat, and it lasts years. Our Signature and Ultimate packages are rated for 5 to 7 years of protection, and our Essential package for 2 or more years.

What Makes It Last

  • Prep: the paint is washed, decontaminated and machine polished first, so the coating bonds to clean, flat clear coat
  • Layers: we apply two layers by hand and level them panel by panel
  • Curing: the car stays indoors overnight so the coating hardens properly
  • Washing: how the car is cared for afterward matters most

What Shortens It

Automatic brush car washes, harsh degreasers and wax products wear a coating down faster. So does letting bird droppings or bug guts sit on the paint for days. None of this ruins a coating overnight, but over the years it adds up.

How To Keep It Working

  • Hand wash with a pH neutral soap, or use a touchless wash
  • Use clean microfiber towels and straight line motions
  • Top it up with a ceramic boost spray sealant every few washes
  • Keep the car dry for the first 24 to 48 hours after install

Our aftercare guide walks through the full wash routine step by step, and our maintenance washes follow the same routine if you would rather leave it to us.
